Special Prayer Request

Me and my sister Carla

I am so grateful for the power of prayer and for how the Lord fills us with hope and comfort as we humbly lay our burdens at His feet.

Today I’m asking you to stand in prayer with me for my sister, Carla. She needs a miracle this week!

Over the past year she has endured three major surgeries on and around her colon. The first one was to remove a diverticulitis tumor which left her with a colostomy for five months.

The second surgery was for the reversal of the colostomy and this summer she had to have incisional hernia repair.

Monday night she began suffering severe abdominal and back pain and was unable to pass anything. Today the doctor said the tests show that scar tissue has grown around the place where he resected the colon last year. The scar tissue is squeezing the colon and causing her to be restricted.

For the next couple of days they will be doing things to try to improve the situation without having to go through another surgery. If this doesn’t work then she will need another surgery, have another temporary colostomy, then go through another reversal.

I am asking you to go boldly before the throne of grace with me and ask the Lord to supernaturally intervene and open this area of her colon so she will not have to have any more surgeries! I want to see the glory of the Lord revealed in this situation!

It means so much to have you in my life for such a time as this and to know the power that will be released over Carla as this prayer covering goes forth! Love you all!

Jeff, I had no idea Carla was going through such a tough ordeal. I knew she had some problems about a year ago but I just didn’t realize they were continuing. I will certainly be lifting her up in prayer and looking forward to hearing back from you that God has healed Carla without her having to go through surgery again.

It was good to see you Sunday and have you here to worship with all your NGBC friends and family. I enjoy getting your weekly messages and having a chance to keep up with you. May God continue to bless you.

Hey Jeff! We will pray for her. My sister has had some of the same struggles this year. Crazy attacks on our sisters! Lord, You are so amazing! We could spend every breath praising you and still not begin to understand how big You are. Even in your hugeness, thank You for being concerned with all the details. I pray that You would give the doctors wisdom about what steps to take with Carla. Give her relief from the pain and help her feel normal again. I have added Carla to my prayer list and will pray for her each time I lift my voice to Him. I also pray for Him to give you strength and the supporting words you need to be a comfort and a rock for her to lean on while she is in so much pain.

Jeff, I am praying for Carla. This is very similar to what our daughter went through a few years ago: Surgery that removed 2/3 of her large intestines, second surgery on scar tissue from first surgery, massage therapy to manipulate the scar tissue, etc. God is good all the time! Our daughter is doing great and I know God can bring Carla through this.

  My name is Vickie Bennett. I am Jeff’s older sister. Thank you for your prayers for our sister Carla. She came through the surgery with no complications praise the Lord! I talked with her today and she ask me to find out about the massage therapy she had read about on a post. After reading the many responses Jeff received I found your reply to him and the mention of the massage therapy to manipulate the scar tissue. She would very much appreciate more information about this. How do you go about receiving it? Does a doctor do this or can you do it for yourself? She is concerned about having scar tissue return and wants to take precautions against it. Thank you for your help in this matter. Continue to pray for her as she heals.     Dear Vickie (and Jeff),
    I grew up attending NGBC from the age of 3 and vividly remember singing in the children’s “Sunbeams” choir. I attended several summer church campus as a teen and preteen. I do remember all of you well! My mom worked in the children’s VBS program way back “in the day” (I’m 51). I remember your precious parents very well. Jeff, your sister, Vickie & I are friends on fb & I do pray for her on a regular basis. Now that I know there is a prayer need for Carla, she will become a part of my regular prayers and petitions before our Heavenly Father, the Almighty One.
    Prayers for your ministry will continue. I have worked in VBS, utilizing your God-inspired themes year after year & have had the privilege of seeing so many young ones give their hearts to Christ, fully & eventually their parents in more than a few cases! God Bless!

Jeff, I will be praying for your sister, Carla. I completely understand your heart on this. My 29 year old son had his entire colon removed in August due to a tumor and now has a temporary illisostomy. He is scheduled for the reversal surgery in December. In September his wife delivered their first child 14.5 weeks early. Our itty bitty Sophie Hope is hanging in there. Her and her momma and daddy appreciate all prayers for their family. See you at VBS Writer’s conference in November. Trusting we both have praises to share on how God answered these prayers.

I will be honored to pray for your sister. I actually understand what you and she are going through. My dad has stage 4 colon cancer and cannot eat or if he does cannot keep it down. The cancer is restricting his opening so they put a stint in his colon to open him up… fairly easy procedure. If I am not mistaken it is outpatient. However, I KNOW we serve a GREAT BIG GOD because the doctors said last year this time my dad would not be here and he is still with us. We don’t know for how long, but thankful for each day. All we want is for God to get the GLORY.
